I found the chemistry tutoring very useful in securing a good grade in my chemistry A-Level. Miss Abbott was excellent at explaining new topics and helped me with revising ones I had already learnt in school. Although most of my sessions were in-person she is also very good at teaching online via Zoom.

My children really enjoyed lessons with Penny. She was always on time and very well prepared. As the result of her lessons, Peter had the best chemistry university entrance exam result among all 800 candidates. I do not need to mention that Peter and Christopher had A* in chemistry on their A-Level exams.

Penny tutored our son Tom in chemistry for the sixth months before his A-Level exams. She offered him a regular time slot for an hour, once a week and this was consistent throughout. The sessions were well planned, covering the syllabus in a methodical way, enabling Tom to consolidate his knowledge whilst encouraging him to extend his understanding. The sessions were taught at an appropriate level and Penny was very in tune with his needs and had an excellent rapport with him, constantly challenging him to achieve more. He enjoyed the sessions, was very positive with his feedback and felt the sessions were extremely helpful, and ultimately helped him gain the grade he needed to move onto university. I would have no hesitation in recommending Penny as an A-Level chemistry tutor.

We came across Penny by recommendation. Byron instantly took to her manner and enthusiasm, coupled with her cheerful disposition, and certainly benefited from her positive attitude, kind approach, commitment and empathy, going from strength to strength. Penny was an inspiration to us all, taking an interest in me too; keen to oblige, including which was the best for all of us regarding the timetabled sessions between Byron and Penny. We were very happy with Penny; she was very reliable and punctual, quiet and unassuming but friendly.

Penny has been an absolutely amazing chemistry tutor. She is so kind and supportive, so not only preparing excellent sessions, putting 110% effort into all the practice questions preparation, she comforted, advised, and was there for me during my GCSEs. I'm so grateful to her for helping me achieve my grades, she made me able to walk into the exam hall a lot more confident, and was always encouraging afterwards!

Alex, Student
Of my three subjects at A-Level, I found chemistry to be the most difficult. The style in which I was taught by my teachers (especially organic chemistry), did not suit the way I processed information, and by year 13, I found myself to be in a difficult situation. Penny’s approach in helping me understand A-Level chemistry was not only invaluable, but had allowed for my greater understanding and confidence in the subject. What was once confusing, for example, the numerous organic mechanisms, had become enjoyable and a style of question I looked forward to within the exam. Penny took a flexible approach to my tutoring, allowing for me to question any part of the syllabus in any session, and be given guidance and exam-style questions so that my understanding of a topic may be maximised. Furthermore, Penny’s guidance was not limited to our sessions but her availability on email allowed me to ask her questions about anything within the subject and receive an explanation soon after, either by email or Zoom call which always answered my question. Even while on holiday, Penny made time for sessions over Zoom, giving me full support over any queries I had. Penny’s expertise of the subject and guidance resulted in the transformation of my predicted B in chemistry to achieving an A in the final exam.

Chemistry was our son Alex’s weaker subject and he was predicted a B. He felt that in order to apply for his universities of choice, he required an A. He was never confident approaching his teachers for extra help, so we decided to engage Penny to help him understand better. Without fail, Penny was there every week tutoring him in the subject area, giving him confidence and time to practise answering questions. Penny, with her experience and knowledge also helped him through the minefield of university and course selection to get him on the right path and frame of mind for the future. The result: Alex achieved an A and has now enrolled at Manchester University to read Biomedical Sciences. We thank Penny for all her assistance and would recommend her to anyone needing to achieve top grades.
